Worth to see in Prague
Whether you'll visiting beautiful city of Prage just for a weekend, or maybe longer, for vacation, for various business purpose or you'll want to visiting relatives, anyway you should consider at least few of Prague destination as a 'must see'. Keep in mind, there's so much to see and do in Prague, you should plan on at least three to four days to cover the main sites pnly and perhaps explore some of the lesser know attractions.
Our advices includes folowing attractive places:
The first place people head to is Old Town, with it's huge square surrounded by colorfully painted buildings. This is the center of the tourist district and pedestrian malls radiate in several directions from the square enticing you to stroll and shop.
Old Town Square (Staromestske namesti) is Prague's centre for cafes, street entertainment and leisurely fun. Many of beautiful historical buildings surround the square. The world famous Astrological/Astronomical (from 1410.) clock is here. Every hour you can see this clock do its thing which consists of doors opening and apostles peering out while death tolls the hour. The famous Astronomical Clock is a part of the square, showing Christ and Twelve Apostles every time when the clock signal hour. The first figure that apeare is a skeleton, representing Death, followed by the Twelve Apostles. It's one of Prague's must sees, along with the Castle and Charles Bridge.
Not far from the Old Town square is Charles Bridge, where artists and craftsmen also ply their wares, while dark religious statues tower over the sea of tourists. Charles Bridge crosses the Vltava River which bisects Prague and carries boat traffic, mostly tourists. The views from this bridge and the others are usually spectacular. You can visit the Charles Bridge tower. Charles Bridge (Karluv most) is the bridge with the best night view of Prague Castle. It is one of the most popular sights and romantic spot, too.
Restaurants and a crafts market line the perimeter of the square and you should sample some of the food and drink available here.
Wenceslas Square (Vaclavske Namesti) is the largest and most visited shopping street in Prague. Many times in the history demonstrating Praguers gathered here.
Prague Castle (Prazsky hrad) is the complex of magnificent experience throughout, with St. Vitus cathedral and several museums. Each of them is worthy of hours of exploration. Do not miss to see also Kafka's house in Golden Lane. Best way is to take a tram 22 or 23 on its scenic journey through the Mala Strana and up to Hradcany, from where you can easily enter the castle.
Charles Bridge (Karluv most) is the bridge with the best night view of Prague Castle. It is one of the most popular sights and romantic spot, too.
Municipal House (Obecni dum) and Smetana Hall are Prague's most prominent Art Nouveau building. Also cultural centre with exhibition halls and auditorium. The Smetana Hall on the first floor is the city's largest concert hall and is where the opening concert of the Prague Spring Music Festival is held each year.
The Estates Theatre (Stavovske Divadlo) is Prague's oldest theatre, worth visiting for good performances and its architecture. The Estates Theatre hosted the premiere of Mozart's Don Giovanni in 1787. and this opera can still be seen here today.
Old Jewish Quarter with his small cobbled streets, home of the mythical Golem, the oldest Jewish synagogues, and the famous cemetery.
